Short communication: Sublethal effects of insecticides used in strawberry on Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae)

Aim of study: Assessment toxicity and sublethal effects registered insecticides currently used in strawberry cultivation Brazil on Trichogramma pretiosum Riley adults.Area The study was conducted under laboratory conditions Paraná (Brazil).Material methods: Previously non-parasitized Duponchelia fovealis Zeller (Lepidoptera: Cambridae) eggs were dipped into insecticide dilutions or control solution. Seven active ingredients tested: thiamethoxam, abamectin, azadirachtin, spinetoram, chlorfenapyr, lambda-cyhalothrin chlorpyriphos. Side-effects pesticides quantified by measuring mortality T. females 24 h, longevity after exposure to the insecticides, parasitism emergence rates, offspring sex ratio. These traits also measured second generation.Main results: According IOBC criteria, thiamethoxam classified as harmless; chlorfenapyr spinetoram slightly toxic; azadirachtin moderately toxic chlorpyriphos toxic. rate secondgeneration not significantly affected chlorfenapyr. Sublethal caused abamectin verified secondgeneration.Research highlights: information generated this is useful for designing future biological strategies integrated pest management programs against D. fovealis.
